Fundación Recover, Aigua per al Sahel, medicusmundi, the Gipuzkoa College of Nursing (COEGI), Fundación Clavel, and Fundación Anesvad are launching the SANIDAD platform, which is open to be joined by more entities that contribute to healthcare in Spain.
Healthcare belongs to everyone; it has no brand or owner. Everyone should be able to access healthcare no matter where they were born or what their personal circumstances are. With this underlying message, various organizations at a national level have joined forces to launch SANIDAD, which brings together knowledge and initiatives linked to the defence of the Right to Health.
The date coincides with World Health Day, a milestone marking the creation in 1948 of the World Health Organization (WHO). One of the aims of this commemoration is to protect the universal, public, and free nature of healthcare systems, as well as to ensure their sustainability. This aim is shared by the organizations that are behind this portal, which seeks to generate an open and co-operative community to highlight all of the initiatives linked to healthcare in Spain.
A co-operative platform for the Right to Health
The promoters include Fundación Recover, Aigua per al Sahel, medicusmundi, the Gipuzkoa College of Nursing (COEGI), Fundación Clavel, and Fundación Anesvad. This co-operative website has the aim of amplifying the messages, projects, and campaigns of organizations working for the Right to Health in Spain. It is a space for the exchange of knowledge: reports, teaching materials, articles… all of which to investigate further into matters relating to health and wellbeing from a perspective of human rights and sustainable development. A place to highlight that universal access to healthcare systems should not be a privilege, but a right.
San Mamés lights up for good health
As a symbolic act to accompany the launch of this initiative, and in conjunction with the Fundación Athletic Club, on 7 April we will light up the San Mamés stadium in Bilbao with the aim of promoting universal, accessible, and quality healthcare for all. This initiative forms part of the co-operation agreement signed by both entities in November 2020.
