The Challenge<\/p>\n\n \n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

Due to the stigma attached to NTDs, those with a disease that is detected at a late stage suffer from permanent disabilities that have an impact on their social and economic life.<\/p>\n\n\n

Still today, there is both a lack of research that addresses the needs of people with disabilities<\/strong>, and a lack of effective policies to raise awareness in society in general about people with disabilities and their rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the case of many disabilities, there is no comparable information on their incidence rates<\/strong>, geographical spread and consequences in different countries around the world. In the case of NTD-related disabilities, this gap is considerable.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n \n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n \n<\/section>\n\n

With a view to improving the lives of people with disabilities caused by NTDs, we have launched a research project in collaboration with<\/strong> the Centre Interfacultaire de Formation et de Recherche en Environnement pour le D\u00e9veloppement durable (CIFRED<\/strong>) of the University of Abomey Calavi in Benin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
