Goal 6
Clean water and sanitation
The Anesvad Foundation is dedicated to promoting health and well-being in vulnerable communities worldwide. To achieve this mission, we embrace the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6, recognising clean water and sanitation as foundational to health, dignity and disease prevention, while empowering communities to manage these resources sustainably.
We integrate critical components into our projects to enhance access to water, sanitation and hygiene, investing 9.1% of our budget in clean water and sanitation initiatives for rural African communities.
The Anesvad Foundation advances this goal through the following actions:
- Building and rehabilitating wells, reservoirs and water collection systems: We fund and promote infrastructure in rural communities with limited access to safe water.
- Collaborating with local stakeholders: We ensure water systems are sustainable, community-managed and tailored to local environments, preventing abandonment or premature deterioration.
- Installing latrines, showers and ecological sanitation systems: We focus on health centres and rural schools to prevent diseases linked to poor hygiene.
- Conducting community awareness campaigns: We promote proper water use, handwashing and basic hygiene practices, which are vital for preventing the spread of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
- Ensuring access to water and sanitation: This is a core element of our strategy to combat NTDs, which are closely tied to unsanitary environments and lack of clean water.
- Pursuing environmentally responsible solutions: We promote community-led management and resilience to climate change, which exacerbates water access challenges in many regions of Africa and Asia.
“We work to deliver clean water and sanitation to even the most remote communities”
