Goal 8
Decent work and economic growth
The Anesvad Foundation is dedicated to promoting health and well-being in vulnerable communities worldwide. To achieve this mission, we embrace the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8, recognising that health, decent work and economic development are interconnected pillars essential for eradicating poverty and exclusion.
We advance SDG 8 by fostering decent work and inclusive economic growth through projects that strengthen health systems and create sustainable local employment, helping to break the cycle of poverty and exclusion. By supporting social enterprises and artisans (particularly women), we allocate 0.52% of our budget to financial aid, technical training, loans and microenterprises, promoting dignified local employment and boosting economic participation in vulnerable communities.
The Anesvad Foundation pursues this goal through the following interventions:
- Generating decent local employment: We hire community members, healthcare professionals, trainers and workers for infrastructure projects, such as health centres, wells and latrines.
- Supporting self-employment and entrepreneurship in community health: We train community health workers and promote complementary income-generating activities, such as crafts and agriculture linked to improved nutrition.
- Strengthening public health systems: Healthy communities are more productive, as access to healthcare enhances work capacity and supports sustainable economic development.
- Promoting healthy and resilient environments: We reduce the impact of diseases that hinder access to decent work and perpetuate poverty cycles.
- Upholding principles of decent work, equal opportunities, and non-discrimination: We embed these values in our staff practices and the local programmes and initiatives we support.
