Goal 16
Peace, justice and strong institutions
The Anesvad Foundation is dedicated to promoting health and well-being in vulnerable communities worldwide. To achieve this mission, we embrace the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16, recognising that health and human rights can only thrive in environments of peace, justice and good governance.
We advance SDG 16 by strengthening the Right to Health as a foundation for peace, justice and inclusion, while supporting fairer and more resilient institutions and communities in the regions where we work. We allocate 10.49% of our budget to governance, and our asset management and investments adhere to ESG/SRI (Environmental, Social and Governance/Socially Responsible Investment) criteria, subject to external accountability, advisory board oversight, audits and full transparency in our annual report.
The Anesvad Foundation pursues this goal through the following strategies:
- Upholding the Right to Health as a Universal Human Right: We denounce inequalities and human rights violations faced by individuals affected by Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
- Combating stigma, discrimination and social exclusion: We promote dignity and respect for the most vulnerable populations through targeted initiatives.
- Collaborating with health authorities and local administrations: We strengthen public health systems and foster more effective and transparent institutions.
- Supporting community participation structures: We empower populations to engage in decisions impacting their health and well-being, which we consider essential for sustainable change.
- Promoting social cohesion, inclusion and peaceful conflict resolution: We contribute to community stability and resilience through our health and development work.
- Advocating for access to essential services: We champion access to health, water and sanitation as critical for preventing social tensions and fostering fairer, more peaceful environments.
“Only by securing the full Right to Health can we ensure peace, justice and inclusion”
