Goal 10
Reduced inequalities
The Anesvad Foundation is dedicated to promoting health and well-being in vulnerable communities worldwide. To achieve this mission, we embrace the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10, as our work directly targets the inequalities faced by the most vulnerable populations in accessing health and human rights.
We advance SDG 10 by working to reduce disparities in access to healthcare and other fundamental rights, prioritising the most vulnerable communities and individuals to build a more just and inclusive world. We have facilitated financial inclusion for 607,671 people (73% rural and 75% women), with 0.07% of our budget dedicated to reducing inequalities. Our most vulnerable beneficiaries actively participate in programmes tailored to their unique contexts.
The Anesvad Foundation pursues this goal through the following strategies:
- Working in communities with deep-rooted inequalities: We focus on rural and remote areas of Sub-Saharan Africa, where people suffer from Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and have limited access to basic services.
- Closing gaps in access to quality healthcare, clean water and sanitation: We address economic, geographical and social barriers to ensure equitable access.
- Supporting groups facing exclusion: We prioritise women, girls, people with disabilities and those stigmatised by neglected diseases.
- Promoting social and economic reintegration: We foster active community participation for those facing discrimination or exclusion due to illness.
- Defending the right to health as a universal right: We advocate for equitable access to health, regardless of origin, economic status, gender, or social condition, to contribute to fairer and more equitable societies.
- Empowering communities: We enable communities to lead their own change, reducing external dependency and fostering inclusive development.
